Thats not true at all. Buffalo's defenseman pinch in the offensive zone much more than 90% of the teams in the NHL. Its the aggressive, attacking style of their D specifically that seperates Buffalo from the rest of the leauge. Obviously, when you do this, you are vulnerable to some odd man rushes in the other direction when you are a little sloppier. Thats exactly what happened against Atlanta, and unfortunately for Buffalo, ATL was talented and fast enough to capitalize. Im going to have to take your word on this one. I dont watch enough hockey in general, sabres in specific, to pick up on their traits. I have only seen the senators game and the end of the game last night. From what i have seen though, i have not picked up on any more odd man rushes going against the sabres than any other team.

How is DiPietro not the top goalie in the league? I mean, how many other goalies have lifelong contracts?
I've got to Exalt South for that one. You set yourself up.

Rick DiPietro is a horrible goaltender, the guy got a lifetime contract because he plays for the most misguided organization in the NHL. Charles Wang is a nut, I'm surprised more people didn't jump ship this summer when Neil Smith and Pat LaFontaine did.
Stats don't tell the story for Ryan Miller, but for argument's sake, let's take a look....
(Games played through 11/4)
Record - Miller 9-0-1 DiPietro 4-4-0
GAA - Miller 2.50 DiPietro 3.26
Save % - Miller .916 DiPietro .895
Shots Faced - Miller 311 DiPietro 239
Miller has a better goals against average and save percentage, all while facing almost 100 shots more than DiPietro. Miller also has a shutout this season, DiPietro does not.
Besides all that, Miller just wins. It doesn't matter if the score is 1-0 or 6-5, the guy finds a way to make the big saves when he needs to. Look at the Boston game on Thursday night, not Miller's best by any stretch, but late in the third he was able to keep the Sabres in the game and the team pulled out a win.
Another number to consider....3. That's the number of shootout goals Miller has allowed all season. No goalie in the league has that kind of thing going for them in the penalty shot competition.

You're arguing against yourself man. I was being a bit fecetious about DiPietro. I'm no big hockey fan, but growing up if I followed any team it was the Isles. I'm well aware of the bumbling front office.
While I like DiPietro, he's only a pretty good goalie. He's done nothing to merit his draft pick and his ridiculous contract. I thought Millbury had the team on the right track about 5-6 years ago, but he's about as big an ass clown as Isiah Thomas and Scott Layden.
I had high hopes for Neil Smith, though he was erratic with his blueprint for the Rangers.
I'm not one to debate hockey. I'll admit I know as much about it as a 10 year old girl, but I watch enough of it to know Miller's a solid goalie and DiPietro's been an underachiever.

The sens stink this year, first 5 game losing streak in 10 years, although it is partly because of the new fucking rules and the god damn shootout bullshit. science h. logic the shootout is gay.

Souf - Hmmmmm.... If I recall, the Senators were nasty last yr - despite the new rules and shootout. I don't think you can blame them sucking on those 2 things. But yes, the shootout sucks.

all i was saying is that the sens lost 2 games during their historic losing streak by shootout that would have been ties before. The sens are sucking ass and its not because of the new rules.

What's bullshit is getting a point for a shootout/ overtime loss. I fucking hate that rule, and I've hated it since it started. Right now every overtime game is a three point game. I say (since the NHL listens to me) make every game a three point game. You want to award a point for an overtime loss, then teams should get three for a regulation win, two for an OT win, one for an OT loss and zero for a regulation loss.
Still, right now when the Sabres hit overtime I exhale and think, "At least we get a point."
