The season is getting close and someone from the BANNEDWagon gave a pretty optimistic review of the players he watched practice last week.
Maybe this is the year we return to respectability. I do fear, however, that we will never get back to where we were in 2000.

I got thrown out of a Bonnies game by the ref once. He'd been making bad calls all afternoon and when he was right in front of me, I said loudly, "hey, ref--you want me to get you a crowbar to pry your head out of your ass?" He started yelling at me and had me thrown out. I didn't get it--hell, I've been to games at Madison Square Garden and Yankee Stadium and have said worse things to the refs and umps.
Oh, and I'm heading back to St. RONaventure on September 22nd. Even though I'll have the wife and kid in tow, I still plan on kicking it rWo-style. Not sure if I can get BENT like I used to, though...

I think that the season will end with 9 wins and it will be adios time for Solomon. I believe that SBU needs to change leagues to have a chance of anything much over .500 in future seasons. I give the SBU/A-10 relationship three more years max..and then I think the A-10 will pull the plug. Sad, but SBU simply can't compete in bball with the big dawgs with the limited resources available. Other sports may be a different story.

undefeated seaons. solomon coach of the year. relph averages 32 a game. . .o wait. . .this isn't the bannedwagon.
i think a number "in the teens" is an achievable # of wins. Our non conference is a rec league schedule. we also have the most home games we've had in almost a decade. . .should provide for a few more wins. If we can do that. . .we can hang in the A 10. Look at the Dukes. They recently changed their logo. . .no dice. . .we still know you suck.

The schedule is about as padded as a schedule could possibly could be. Maybe not quite rec league but certainly DIII is about the level of our non-conference opponents this year. I have serious doubts about Solomon's basic coaching skills which is why I'm thinking only 9 wins this season. Even if by some miracle the number of wins ends up in the low teens Solomon still needs to be replaced.

I've never been a huge fan of Sol, but I think the team should stick with him if he can continue to show significant improvement from season to season. If he doesn't improve on last year's record by 5 games (give or take a game), he should be gone.

anyone ever see the snickers commercial where the guy plays the guitar and sings a song about snickers to the guy eating? Tell me that guy eating the snickers isn't sol's twin brother.

can't say that i have seen the snickers commercial, but i have noticed that slo often resembles Denzel Washington a little bit. It may be a stretch...

I think we get 9-10 wins out of conference and then another 5-6 in conference. We should hover very close to the .500 mark and make the A-10 tournament. This year we will in fact "move forward".

Pretty lofty predictions Rim. I'd say they would be plausible if we had a coach I believe could even remotely gameplan. Instead, I fear we "out athlete" several of the cupcakes, lose a few to them due to coaching, and win like three or four conference games. So, I would predict something like 11-12 wins.
That said, anything less than 13 wins by Sol and he should be gone. I would like to see him replaced regardless of his record (barring the highly unlikely scenario that we win something like 15+ games).

11-13 wins is not out of the question. Last year there were 3-4 games that could have gone either way with a few breaks. This year the team seems to be getting better and if the new players live up to some of their hype and Relph is 100% again then this team could win in the low teens easily. The A 10 is going to be a little weaker which could work to our advantage. Regardless of what anyone thinks of the coach lets at least all agree that things are starting to look a little better. Go bonas!

Things are slightly better but that is offset by a head coach who lacks many of the essential coaching skills needed to have a successful basketball program. Solomon does anything less than 15 wins this season (considering the padded schedule) and he definitely needs to go.
