Bonnies sign philly PG
He was also considering Drexel
Judging only what ive read on the Drexel board this dude seems to be pretty legit. Probably wont get much time next year, but once relph and calvin are gone the position seems to be his. Seems to be a good signing for Solomon.
Malcolm ElebyThe spring/summer basketball season is approximately halfway through and the summer camp silly season is set to begin. Before the craziness of the camps starts, I thought I’d take the time out to reflect on what I’ve seen so far this spring/summer.
Point Guard Finding a point guard to run your offense is perhaps the most important aspect of recruiting. Nowadays, there are a lot of guards who simply want to score and score often. Guards who can run an offense and distribute the ball are not easy to locate. The class of 2007 has several point guards of note.
Malcolm Eleby (Franklin Learning Center, PA) is at the top of my list. He is a very good passing and scoring lead guard. He loves to attack the basket with crafty dribbling. He reads defenses well and seems to know when to pass and when to shoot. In addition to being quick, he is big and strong and combines that with a soft touch around the basket. Malcolm is also a very good free throw shooter, which is key when you’re on the attack as much as he is. The biggest hole in Malcolm’s game is his jumper. He has decent form on his shot, but is range is limited. He rarely even takes shots from behind the arc. He does shoot the ball off to the side a bit, so he does tend to push the ball a bit more from the outside when compared with natural shooters. With the frequency that he can hit from the foul line though, I think he is capable of extending his game out to the perimeter more.

Bona falls to Chicago Statewww.buffalonews.com/editorial/20061110/2055396.asp David Holston, who is listed at 5-foot-7, scored 43 points, hitting 7 of 11 three-point tries, to lead Chicago State to a 98-95 win over St. Bonaventure in the first round of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic at the Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. It was the regular season opener for both teams. Paul Williams, a 6-10 senior, scored 25 and had 13 rebounds to lead St. Bonaventure but fouled out with just under three minutes to play. Michael Lee had 20 for the Bonnies. A three-point play by Michael Henderson of the Cougars tied the game at 88-all. Chicago State then took the lead for good on Cam-Ron Ray's dunk. St. Bonaventure twice got within two in the final 17 seconds when Zarryon Fereti and Tyler Relph hit three-pointers. The Bonnies will play Alcorn State, which lost to No. 21 Texas 103-44, in tonight's consolation game at 5:30 p.m.

This loss really doesnt bother me too much. Chicago state was vastly underrated by the entire banned wagon, including myself. I think we can bounce back and win the game against alcorn state (the same team we beat in our two win season). Our RPI takes a hit but to be honeset our RPI does not matter this year.
If we dont beat Alcorn State though, we would be in a huge hole leading up to our home oopener.

I am changing my thoughts for the time being and saying we are going O-fer on the season. This team is the Temple/UB Football of college basketball. We're gonna lost in Texas, and then Loretto and New Britain and Albany and Olean. BLAUUUUUU!

Hire McElroy.......Fire Solomon....Do It Now! come on alumni, come to the aide of your school ! lack of sucess in basketball translates directly to decreased enrollment. i'm only a townie, so it won't be my diploma going down the toilet. but if you give a d**n, hire mcelroy to fire sol, and get the good sister to fire brenda snow ! we need to go in a new direction now! That's correct don't ***ume anything! Chi -State was undersized and undermanned and still found away to win, unlike our "young men" when we were short on numbers. Athletic teams will beat us every time. I say forget the MAAC and lets try to get in Gannon's Div. II conference. Tonights contest will unfortunately have the same outcome. SOL can't fix athleticism in 24 hours. Bonnies headed to Olean 0-2.

The banned wagon is a bunch of General Tso's Chickentards. I tore some of them a new one calling them hypocrates and idiots for bailing on the team after one game. South is right, everyone under rated Chicago St. Other than a guard going off, the bonnies outplayed them in all facets of the game ( well not FT shooting) but we need to give credit where credit is due. Bonas will bounce back tonight and go home 1-1 which is what everyone expected. Given the way Texas ass raped Alcorn St last night, im glad we dont have to face them

Guys, I have to agree with the Bannedwagon maniacs. There are no words to describe how pathetic it is to let Chiacao St score 98 POINTS!! Can you imagine how many points A-10 teams will put up? Solomon's gotta go. He simply does not know how to coach basketball at this level.
Fun Fact: Chicago St dressed either 8 or 9 players last night.... including walkons. Yikes

I don't have strong opinions on Soloman one way or the other. I've never had a whole lot of faith in him as a basketball coach just based on the way he carries himself in terms of interviews and whatnot. My first impression after hearing him talking on some radio show way back when is that he didn't seem to have a clue. His quote if I remember correctly, "Wow, man, these guys are just so good sometimes I forget that I'm a coach and just start watching the game like I'm a fan." Not the kind of quotes you want to hear coming from a coach. That being said, I trust he knows a hell of a lot more about college basketball than I do.
Obviously enough people had some faith in the guy to give him another season, so I think we just have to sit back and see how the rest of it plays out. If he doesn't improve on last years win totals, it's time for him to go. I think it's just that simple.

I did a big bowl after last nite's game. It made things a whole lot better. You Bevelators gotta understand what a complete letdown this sort of shit is to alumni who were used to SBU being like numbah 2 and 3 in THE ENTIRE MOTHERFUCKING NATION... ROUTINELY!
MOTHERFUCK!
What the fuck is an alcorn anyway...is that like some fucking nut or something?
Aloha!

Yeah, I'm agreeing with Smiff here. I wasn't able to access the bevel at the end of the week, so I'm a bit late. Usually, early season games are low scoring because offensive execution takes a while to catch up to the defenses.
To let up 98 points to Chicago State - not even a full strength chicago state - is ridiculous.
Someone on the BANNEDwagon posted a great snipit from an article about St. John's coach Norm Roberts. He had scholarship limits and had to play a few walkons his first year. It is now year three. According to Rick Pitino, Roberts is doing a great job, because he's got his team playing great defense and keeping them close in games.
Pitino was quoted as saying the key to building a team starts with defense. Eventually, the players start putting the ball in the hoop more consistently, and you recruit a few players who can shoot.
Even though it's only two games... it's been 3 years and now two games in which Sol's teams have been a horrible defensively.
