Just watched the Boys whip up on the Saints. But I'll talk about the game another time. This post is dedicated to the banter that goes on in the booth.
The beginning of the game started out in similar fashion to last week. Kornheiser tries to control the booth, Mike Tirico hides in the back and Theisman refutes everything Kornheiser says. Theismann, as he's been doing for years, analyzes nothing besides the quarterbacks.
Best dialogue of the night... which I hope every bevelator heard.
Tirico: "Saints safety Josh Bullocks makes the tackle. Bullocks was the 40th pick in the draft two years ago by the Saints. His brother, Daniel Bullocks, was the 40th player chosen in this year's draft." Kornheiser: "Symmetry!!"
Anyone else think that by the end of the game Kornheiser and Theismann had this semi-lance bass dialogue going? They're making a game out of their bickering. I wouldn't be surprised if by week 3 they give each other pet names.

They really are carefully contradicting every point the other person makes. And I love how Kornheiser calls Theisman out on his assanine observations. Missed the Symmetry call, but I really like the chemistry these two guys have. Even though Theismann is an ass, Kornheiser bringing his assness to light will make the Monday night broadcast entertaining.

I like Kornheiser a lot, but I really like what he brings to the table in these broadcasts. At one point in the first half, Mike and Tony mentioned the QB controversy brewing in Dallas and the rumors suggesting Tony Romo may be the starter this season. Theisman made some smarmy comment or sighed, and I remember thinking to myself, "Oh, does that bother you Joe??"
When they came back from their next commercial, Kornheiser said to Theisman, "When we brought up Romo may be the starter, I sensed you were offended by that." And Theisman was able to further explain his love for Drew Bledsoe. But I thought it was a great move to go back and say to Joe, What the fuck are you so pissed about?
Later when Theisman made his 893rd consecutive positive comment about a player without a detracting comment in sight, Tony called him out by saying basically, "You root for Bledsoe, don't you."
I hope Kornheiser calls him out over and over again about Joe's tendency to sugarcoat everything and never say a bad thing about anyone. Maybe then he'll become a decent broadcaster.
