Starting - If you have never been to www.whatifsports.com before go now and check it out. It lets you simulate games against teams from different eras in Collge Hoops, NFL, NHL, MLB, and NBA.

But thats not what this post is about, a while back i got a gift certificate to this site and started a "Hoops Dynasty". It is one of the most addictive things i have ever come accross. You are a college hoops coach who starts out at D3 and if you do good you can apply for other jobs at higher confrences and divisions.
You control everything from recruiting (where you can offer illegal gifts at your own risk) to punishment for players caught drinking or showing up late to practice.
This game is so comprehensive it is insane. It is a great way to waste time.

yea, it does. They have free trials of their leagues on there you can do, and their simulations of games are all free, but if you want to do the full length seasons of stuff it costs around 10 dollars for about a 5 - 6 weeks of a game.

Before fantasy football started I did a couple of football sim leagues on whatifsports. The first season I did I went 5-11. Second season I snuck into the playoffs at 7-9 and advanced to the conference championship game. Both seasons I loaded up on offense. 84' Dan Marino as QB for both of course. I scored a lot of points but since I spent all my loot on offense my defense was terrible.

But the point is you can pick any player who has ever played and create a team which is a lot of fun. I haven't played the dynasty version southampton is referring to, but the football is definitely worth a try. If there's enough interest, we could even do our own private simulation league. We should look into doing this after fantasy football season is over. As far as the money goes for football it's $8.99 a season. A season lasts about a month.
