i'm hoping to find the time to make the trek. was wondering if anyone knew if ellicottville had a website or something with the hopefully many beers on draft.
i just started working for a craft beer distribuiton company in nj and have taken quite a liking to some pretty darn good micro brews.

I started a thread in the upcoming events section for Octoberfest lase week, I will be there. As for beers most of the beer tents just have normal beer, they actually call it a fall fest not an Octoberfest. About the only place you will find fancy beer I think is the Brewery. I bet if you google Ellicottville Brewing Company (EBC)you will find a site for them. I could be wrong though.

We went into Balloons last year and they had their own brews there that were quite tasty. I was too drunk to remember what the name of the beers are though.

Are you sure Balloons didn't just get it from the brewery next door? The brewery sells kegs of what they make. Balloons does not make their own beer, but very likely the Brewery supplies any place that wants it. I usually stick to Madigans whenever I am home, but I know a girl that works at Balloons so we stop in there too.

Also I forgot to mention if anyone is coming down to Oktoberfest from the Buffalo area? If you are planning to go 219 the whole way I will give you a short cut that will avoid all the backed up traffic there.

I for get the what they call it when you get on it but you want to get on rt. 240. I would get off the 219 a little before Springville at the Genesee rd exit and go left on Genesee. Take that about 3 miles until you run into rt 240. Take a right on 240 and stay on that for most of the trip to Ellicottville, about 25 minutes roughly. That will come to a T at rt. 242, take a right on that and it will bring you right into downtown Ellicottville and merge with 219 just about in town. Park at the big yellow house on the left just as you get close to downtown. My parents own and rent out that house and there is a good chance i will be there drinking in the back. It is a little before the Kelly House lodge.
Edit: I forgot to mention it's not a random house you are parking at, we have one of the larger lots close to town so we charge cars to park there so my family will be out front taking money. Dull, tell them you went to school with me and I told you to park there and they shouldn't charge you.
