Jesus fuck, I haven't drank a 40 in about 12 years, since the night of my 22nd birthday at Doc's house. It was two weeks after I graduated and all of my friends were all gathered in Olean for a wedding. It was also the night the New York Rangers defeated the Devils in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals (the Greatest Game Ever). We all convened at the Burton and just took it over while I watched hockey. This girl that I had been chasing came in with her then-boyfriend, a Devils fan. He was dejected. He was even more dejected as he watched me serenade his girlfriend and her sitting on my lap. She was Olean from head to toe.

I love 40's more than anything and cashiers should never question a purchase of a 40. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting back with a nice 40 to pregame. My personal favorite is Colt 45 and least is Mickey's. Mickey's just go down like nails to me. At Bowling Green I was trying to teach the children about 40's and one of them goes, "Yeah I like 40's, I had one of Bud last week." I almost slapped him. Yet I was kind and gentle though and proceeded to explain to this young man that a 40 is just not a 40 because it has 40 ounces of beer, Kool Aid, or whatever your favorite beverage is. A true 40 needs two words on it: MALT LIQUOR. Is everyone in agreement here? Or am I being obtuse?
PS: Cosmo so just probably caught that movie reference.

Nuthin' finer than a Genny Cream Ale 40. Plus Genny Cream Ale is the official brewski of the Bevelators. Can't get any better than that.

Jesus General Tso's Chicken, I haven't drank a 40 in about 12 years, since the night of my 22nd birthday at Doc's house. He was even more dejected as he watched me serenade his girlfriend and her sitting on my lap. She was Olean from head to toe. I have to disagree with Olean Ron. Ron, the greatest hockey game ever was not Rangers vs Devils. It is one of the following: Game 4, Sabres vs Bruins 1993: "Gets it to May, in over the line... here's May GoingInOnGoalHeShoots... HE SCOOOOOOOORES! MAY DAY! MAY DAY! MAY DAY! MAY DAY! How do you spell second round?!?" Game 4 Sabres vs Philadelphia 2001: "Brown chases after it, tries to get by Desjardin. Here's Brown WALKING IN...... SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOORES! CURTIS BROWN MAKES A MAD DASH DOWN THE ICE AND GOES RIGHT BY HASEK AS HE PUTS BUFFALO IN THE DRIIIIIIIIIIIVER'S SEAT HEADED BACK TO PHILADELPHIA FOR GAME NUMBER FIVE!! BUFFALO WITH A STRAAAAANGLEHOLD ON THE SERIES!" Games 1, 2, 3, and 5 Buffalo vs. Ottawa 2006

Dumont in over the Pittsburgh line, leaves it there. Barnes shoots one....SCCCCOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRREES! STUUUUUUUUUUUUUU BARNES WITH A LASER, AN ABSOLUTE BULLET!!! AND THAT BULLET BULLETS BUFFALO INTO A 3 TO 2 SERIES LEAD!!!!

BUFFALO WITH A STRAAAAANGLEHOLD ON THE SERIES!" Games 1, 2, 3, and 5 Buffalo vs. Ottawa 2006 I'll tell you why Game 7 of the 1994 Eastern Conference finals is the Greatest Game Ever: 1.) It was between two teams (Rangers and Devils) with a bitter rivalry. 2.) The winner of the game would go on to the Stanley Cup Finals. 3.) It was the game forced by Messier's Game 6 guarantee: "We Will Win Tonight". 4.) It was won in double overtime. 5.) This call: "MATTEAU! MATTEAU! MATTEAU!" 6.) It was on my birthday.

Rick cannot retire. I couldn't possibly imagine listening to a Sabres game without that guy doing the play by play. I loved when he used to drink (two beers a period). Before the game his tie would be straight, then before the third intermission it would be loose and crooked. He'd wobble in front of the camera. There's no way he was sober for the May Day call.
"OOOOOOOH NOW DO YOU BELIEVE?!? THESE GUYS ARE GOOD! THEY'RE SCAAAAAAAREY GOOD!"
Shit. After posting about the Sabres and remembering these calls, I am totally pumped up for hockey. My adreneline's going and we're two months before the season starts. I want to see a puck dropped NOW. I might have to go home from work today and listen to the Rick Jeanerett CD again.

I will say that "MATTEAU! MATTEAU! MATTEAU!" isn't the greatest hockey call ever. That will always belong to Al Michaels in the 1980 Olympics: "DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES! YES!"
That call is so good, I repeat it every time I have sex with my wife.

Looks like the 40 oz's thread has morphed into another Buffalo Sabres thread. Am I the only fair weather hockey fan on this board that doesn't give a rats ass about hockey or the Sabres and won't until the 2007 playoffs???
Smite away.

I was hoping this would morph into a South Buffalo thread. God knows how many stories there are in a thread like that.
