ITs up for now and will probably be up the rest of the night. If you registered before you will have to do it again because i changed some stuff around/ www.bonaalumni.com/forums/index.phpWith the excessive amount of censoring that has been going on because of proboards TOS i thought it was time we moved on to greener pastures. This is a new message board i created on the domain name www.bonaalumni.com . It is no where near complete and there is no real content on the actual site, but the message board is us and completly functional, if not a little ugly. Check it out, see what ya think.

First -
South, thanks for taking the time to do this. How long did it take? Will it be possible in the future to put something under the main domain name that will direct people to the message board? The timing of this is pretty good because the archive section can be filled with posts that are nominated for awards in the BevelWagon Year in Review.
Second -
In my defense, I would not refer to the censoring I've done in the past week excessive. Some of the stuff that was being posted was way over board. Threatening people's family members is something that could not only get the board shut down, but can also leave people liable to legal actions. I've heard of a lot of people that had to pay thousands in legal bills after being arrested for making threats on message boards. The stuff posted was not quite that extreme, and was all in good fun, but it could have caused problems nonetheless.

I feel like a great weight has been lifted not to have to worry about censoring things anymore.

Cosmo, i hope you didnt take that as a personal attack because it was not meant to be one. I understand why you do what you do and aprreciate your efforts. The problem is with proboards and how annoying their TOS is. just the little things like the hxxp instead of http and not being able to talk about the band wagon and shit like that.

and yes, the main page can be whatever the bevel wants it to be. When i bought the domain name i got a good amount of bandwith and storage space to upload files and shit. If we wanted to we could turn it into any kind of site. In the mean time i think i am going to a page redirect so when you go to www.bonaalumni.com it redirects you straight to the forums. |

Ps. check your pms South, No offense taken at all. I just put that out there so people can be reminded that there are certain things that shouldn't be posted no matter what message board we're on. But now that will be up to people individually to decide what should and shouldn't be posted, and nobody will have to worry about censoring. I agree it will be nice to be able to loosen up and not have to worry about getting a board shut down over something stupid with no warning. Thanks again! P.S. While I've gotten somewhat used to it I think that the censoring 'cause of ProBoards does take something away from the posts. I'll be the first to admit that BevelWagon 1 had gotten pretty gamey but BevelWagon 2 verges on being garbled at times 'cause of all the filtering. Maybe just a common sense approach with an eye toward no one getting sued but pretty much leave the language as written. I'll try hard not to do anything like the horse General Tso's Chickening Jim Sickstetuh clip again although if I get General Tso's Chickened up on some dynamite ganja I can't absolutely guarantee it.

south, EXALTED! for this wonderful news. We have a great opportunity to make something happen with this new website that is far beyond what any of us pioneering Bevelators could've ever imagined. With a url like bonaalumni.com, I suggest making the website not only a message board, but a fully functional unofficial alumni website for St. Bonaventure University.
There are obviously a lot of basic things we can incorporate to the website, but I'd suggest we as a group think of some interesting and unique ideas to distinguish this alum board from all of its counter parts.

The new board is technically working right now, but it would be best if every one contained the majority of their posting to proboards for now. Im trying to put it some features / update the look and if i fuck up we will probably lose posts. So for the next week or so i think we should stay here.

Ive got the basics of the message board set. I couldnt get a karma function working but we are ok with out out, i am still looking for a way to install one. I changed the default template to morpheus brown, if you are using another template you should switch to that one.
The board will be backed up every friday which means that we are not in danger of losing our posts, also because i have access to the post database if we ever want to switch servers, message boards, or anything else we can take our posts with us. Proboards doesnt allow you this access so i am not able to merge posts to the new site.
I set the site up so the main forums are hidden until you register. Once you register almost all forums are going to be available to you. There is one forum that you will need to be granted access to, this is the "Adult" forum. Pretty much everyone that posts here and wants in gets in but i set it up this way so that it wouldnt turn off some of the more conservitive people from posting here. All you have to do if you want in is send me or cosmo a pm on the new site and we will set you up.
The only feature we are missing right now is the karma, and like i said before i am still working to get that. The new board has everything else we have here.
The new board is up and running and we can start whenever you guys want to switch over. I was talking to cosmo and we thought it would be good once we get all the nominations set to start voting on the new board, but again it is up to the majority.
The site is going to be continually upgraded until probably around the new year. I am going to try to add two more templates, a more bevelish one and a genny one or something like that. I also realize how queer smilie faces are so i am going to try to replace those images with poop like a bonnies logo or syms face and you would be able to add those like a smilie face.
With the move to a new board comes a whole lot of possibilities with the new site. I want everyones input into how we should devolp the actual site. Im learning a new program to use so it will probably go along kind of slow (anyone familier with dreamweaver?) but we can really set up almost any kind of site we want, i got about 25 mysql databases, 100 gig of storage and 1000 gigs of traffic.
Thats where im at now, leave thoughts, ideas, plans.
