2006 NL East Division Champs
A few minutes after the game on SNY, reporter Chris Cotter caught Paul LoDuca before he went into the clubhouse to celebrate. When talking about the feeling of being part of a winner, LoDuca responded: "... I fuckin,eh, friggin love it."

Wow, aren't any of you Met fans worried about how the team celebrated this? I hope the goal of their season wasn't to win the NL East. Act like you've been there before. In 1999, the Sabres won the Eastern Conference to move onto the Stanley Cup Finals. The trophy that was presented to them was completely ignored because they had a bigger goal. The way the Mets celebrated last night was embarrassing

Congrats. After winning the Quadruple A division this year, the Mets get to play the Toledo Mud Hens in a one game playoff in Las Vegas to determine who the best minor league team this year is.

But at the same time, they all realize this is just a step or a piece of the puzzle if you will. "Right now I feel like a proud papa. But the journey is far from complete. Don't get me wrong. I'm happy for these guys. ... But that excitement is controlled because I know there's a long way to go." -- Willie Randolph

The way the Mets celebrated last night was embarrassing I loved how they ignored the trophy at the time. The goal is to win Stanley, not the conference. But now, looking back, I wish Peca took it. It was only the second time in franchise history the Sabres went that far. I don't want them to skate around with it and announce they're going to Disney World, but be proud of the accomplishment and get your team picture taken with the trophy. Thank the ownership and commissioner. Congrats to the Mets. Howard Johnson was my favorite home run hitter growing up, and I had Gary Carter and Darryl Strawberry Starting Lineups

Champagne in the locker room was just a little too much for me.

I think they should have gone out for ice cream little league style.
If I was on a team I would insist that we celebrate with champagne after every win. Your rich and have to shower anyway why not spray champagne everywhere and get drunk after every win?

I'm glad the Mets were able to beat out the Ottawa Lynx for the International League East title last night. The celebration is fine and all, but they better hope Pedro is back to form or might be a quick exit for the Metropolitans. Considering Wright has struggled since the break, they have no solid #3 pitcher and can't hit left-handed pitching as of late, the division title might be the only thing they get to enjoy this year.
Also, the best post-game champagne celebration all-time is when Deion sprayed down Tim McCarver with McCarver muttering something to the extent of "real classy, real class act...why didn't you put me in your music video?"

You're a real man, Deion. A real man. (As Deion continually sprays him with the fine champagne).

Those were the days when Deion was sporting the gericurl and had more bling than a Cash Money Millionaire.

Sdot.... this is not close to being the same as a Sabres Playoff. Remember, there are only four teams in each league that make the playoffs in baseball, not 8. The Braves have owned that division for a decade and a half.
If they didn't clinch so early, I doubt there'd be as huge a celebration. Since they have 13 games left, I'm sure they'll regroup and be ready to run through the rest of the league.
A few weeks ago, my buddy was getting some comp tickets and he asked if I wanted to go to Monday or Tuesday's game. I said Tuesday, and wouldn't you fuckin know that I missed it. Turns out he had some extra tickets for last night's game too, but I didn't know about it until it was too late. Oh well, I'll be there tonight.

Lets see how the Yankees celebrate when they win. It will be a few high fives, maybe some mound hugging and they will have to un cork some bubbly but they will be business as usual. The Mets should be proud, the got a huge lead when the division was shitty and then coasted. I would still be worried about their suspect pitching. Pedro and Glavine at 1 and 2 are probly ranked in the bottom tier of the playoff teams. Regardless, i'll take the AL in 5 in the WS if the Mets make it and to sweep if anyone else gets in.
