New Theory on What Happened

I was on the alumni website today and I see that they have censored all of Cosmo's posts that contained the link to the new Bevel by either deleting the entire post or just the link.

This made me think why did they leave all the links to the old board up that contained far worse stuff then this one and delete the new ones? Could it be that they left them up because instead of censuring them they were covertly working on getting us shut down, and now that they realized we just started a new one they resorted to censuring? There is not even anything bad here yet to make them delete the link.

Some Bandwagoners were probably involved somehow too but the University has been really pushing their board maybe they eliminated their competition and got rid of something they felt portrayed them badly all at once.

Or Col. Mustard could have done it in the library with the candlestick.

I think that it was probably a combination of Bona91/Fox/DemBonnies/Sneakers and the University. This is why we need a site that is totally Bevelator controlled. I can't imagine that
the annual fee for hosting a message board would be overwhelmingly expensive. Let me do some checking around.

Honestly, I don't think the University cared/cares about this board. If I find out that they did, though, Sister Carney will hear about it from me. I took down one president, I will not hesitate to do it again...HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

it didn't seem like they cared, but why are they deleting the new links now then? There is nothing here that deserves fondeling.... yet. They obviously care now to go through three threads and remove the links here pretty quickly.

Here's a board that we could lease that seems to have everything that we'd need and is reasonably priced. I'd be willing to kick in a few bucks toward leasing a board like this for a year.

Seems very similar to proboards and from what I saw doesn't have any features that this one doesn't and they are charging for it. It would be worth it if they don't fondle, but I didn't see anything there that said whether they do or don't have the same TOS rules that this board has.

to me it sounds like a bundle of what I was proposing with www.phpbb.com. They both look like message boards in a can you download and install, the difference here is that you buy theirs and then they host it for you instead of getting your own host. I still think we should play around with this free one that seems pretty popular before we go spend money on one. If it looks great then we can talk about hosting and domain fees.

The concern is that this board isn't quite the same as BevelWagon1 with all the filtering. Like BevelWagon1 this board could be summarily taken down too. Each time that happens it will become increasingly difficult to get folks back. I'm for a brand new board without censorship that is totally ours and I'm willing to cough up a couple of bucks for the first year toward making that a reality.

Too be honest, I think as long as we keep to ourselves, don't plot any assaults on the you know what, don't mention them, then they'll have no reason to turn us in again. And members can swear. I really don't think that's going to cause any problems. Really the only things we shouldn't do on this board that we did on the old one is to provide links to porn or foul material, or post this stuff.

To be honest, probably what got us done in was my messing with Bandwagon posts. They probably saw it, or caught wind of it, and turned me in for it. It was either that or something I or one of the moderators did. As long as us "staff" watch our behavior a little bit, you guys can kinda do whatever. If we think it's a little too nuts we'll just edit it up a little.

I'm not saying we shouldn't search for a new board where we don't have to worry about this crap, but I'm just saying for now while we're still here at Proboards, don't get all doom and gloom that we have to act like quire boys or something, cuz we don't.
